--2B Kelly Johnson and the Braves agreed to one-year, $2,825,000 contract, avoiding arbitration. He was asking for $3.3 million, while the Braves were offering $2.35 million. Johnson was one of the few position players who showed up at Turner Field the first week of February during the annual pitchers' early throwing program, although he was there only briefly. But it was long enough for a chat with GM Frank Wren. Johnson hit .287 with 12 home runs and 69 RBIs last season.
--LHP Boone Logan, who came from the White Sox along with RHP Javier Vazquez in an offseason trade, may get a shot at a bullpen job despite last season's inconsistency if the Braves are not able to re-sign LHP Will Ohman.
--General manager Frank Wren has between $5 million and $7 million left in the kitty and is still trying to land a veteran outfielder, re-sign LHP Will Ohman, and figure out a way to slightly increase the $1 million guaranteed offer to LHP Tom Glavine.
