--RHP Kenshin Kawakami is impressing manager Bobby Cox with his curveball, walking three but allowing no hits in three innings against the Yankees on March 4. Cox had not seen Kawakami pitch in person before spring training.

--LHP Tom Glavine has reported to spring training with the expected slight shoulder soreness; he is not expected to pitch in a spring training game for another week.

--LF Garret Anderson's spring got off to a slow start. The veteran made his Braves spring debut March 5, going 0-for-2 against the Venezuelan national team. He sat out the next two days with an ailing right calf.

--RHP Peter Moylan pitched one pain-free inning March 1, less than 10 months after undergoing elbow ligament transplant (Tommy John) surgery last May. He's still looking for a bit more velocity; his pitches were down 1 or 2 mph, topping out at 89.

--RHP Blaine Boyer increased the reps on all his exercises in his offseason workouts, doing 50, for example, instead of 20. He was determined to increase his endurance after tiring the last two months last season.
