--3B Chipper Jones, who left the March 8 game with Team USA due to an ailing right side, had no trouble in a workout March 11. He felt fine after fielding and after hitting left-handed and right-handed. He said he'll be ready to go March 14 when Team USA starts the next round of World Baseball Classic play.
--RHP Anthony Lerew, who had been outrighted to Class AAA Gwinnett last week, was released by the Braves. He missed about a year of action following Tommy John surgery in May 2007. --RHP Kenshin Kawakami is impressing manager Bobby Cox with his curveball, walking three but allowing no hits in three innings against the Yankees on March 4. Cox had not seen Kawakami pitch in person before spring training.
--LHP Tom Glavine has reported to spring training with the expected slight shoulder soreness; he is not expected to pitch in a spring training game for another week.
--LF Garret Anderson's spring got off to a slow start. The veteran made his Braves spring debut March 5, going 0-for-2 against the Venezuelan national team. He sat out the next two days with an ailing right calf.
--RHP Peter Moylan pitched one pain-free inning March 1, less than 10 months after undergoing elbow ligament transplant (Tommy John) surgery last May. He's still looking for a bit more velocity; his pitches were down 1 or 2 mph, topping out at 89.
--RHP Blaine Boyer increased the reps on all his exercises in his offseason workouts, doing 50, for example, instead of 20. He was determined to increase his endurance after tiring the last two months last season.
