Atlanta Braves Notes, Quotes 2009-05-13
--1B Casey Kotchman has not made an error since coming to the Braves in the Mark Teixeira deal July 29, 2008. That's 650 total chances in 72 games, through Monday.
--C Brian McCann played Tuesday without those long-awaited prescription glasses after they fogged up in Monday's game. McCann was back to his regular catcher's mask as well, discarding the new hockey-style mask he got to accommodate the glasses. This is going to be a work in progress, apparently. --C David Ross is relegated once again to the backup role with the return of C Brian McCann, but manager Bobby Cox has nothing but admiration for Ross's talents handling a pitching staff and pegs Ross as future major league manager material.
BY THE NUMBERS: 41 -- Times CF Jordan Schafer struck out through the first 30 games of the season.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "Eventually some good things have got to start happening. We can't be this unlucky this long." -- 3B Chipper Jones, reflecting on the fact that balls just aren't dropping in during the Braves' overall offensive slump.
