--LHP Mike Gonzalez, who has been out for a year after Tommy John surgery, was activated after Tuesday's game. Manager Bobby Cox isn't looking to throw a game away on an experiment, but he knows Gonzalez thrives on the adrenalin produced by the ninth inning of a close game, and Cox thinks Gonzalez has had enough minor league rehab appearances to get back in the groove. RHP Phil Stockman has been sent back to Class AAA Richmond. --RHP Charlie Morton's 9-4 win over the Angels on Saturday night made him the first Brave to win his major league starting debut since RHP Kyle Davies beat the Red Sox on May 21, 2005.
--LHP Mike Hampton will be making two starts in minor league camp games this week at the Braves' spring training complex near Orlando before beginning a normal rehab assignment.
--Through 72 games, the bullpen had made a league-leading 236 appearances. That has been due more to having relievers make stop-gap starts, in which they have seldom gone more than five innings -- although RHP Jorge Campillo has lengthened his starts each outing, culminating in eight stellar innings Sunday. The Mets had made 235 relief appearances through Tuesday.
