Atlanta Braves Notes, Quotes 2008-07-21

Atlanta Braves Notes, Quotes 2008-07-21
--LHP Tom Glavine's rehab process for the next week will be a bullpen session followed by two off days until he thinks he has built up his arm strength to a degree acceptable to him.

--LHP Jo-Jo Reyes has a career-high five-game losing streak dating back to June 23 versus the Brewers. Sunday's 2 1/3 innings matched the shortest outing of his career.

--LHP Mike Hampton, already rehabbing a strained left pectoral muscle and now dealing with a recurrence of the right groin strain he sustained in spring training, played catch Saturday and plans to do the same Monday in Florida where the Braves will be playing a three-game series. Those sessions will, he expects, keep his arm ready for a bullpen session Tuesday.

--1B Mark Teixeira had his 20th career multi-homer game and the second this season. Each time, he homered from each side of the plate. The previous time was on June 22 versus the Mariners.

--SS Yunel Escobar was cleared by team doctors to hit and did so in the cage before Sunday's game. Manager Bobby Cox says Escobar will start Monday against the Marlins in Florida.

BY THE NUMBERS: 0.63 -- Number of home runs per nine innings allowed by the Braves' bullpen through 96 games.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I wouldn't sell my soul to the devil but I'd get pretty close." --LHP Mike Hampton, on everything he has done to try to pitch again.
