--3B Chipper Jones continues to progress from his hamstring injury and hopes to rejoin the club on Friday, the first day he is eligible to come off the disabled list. The Braves could use Jones' bat, as their third baseman leads the majors with a .369 batting average. Atlanta is just 6-17 in games in which its All-Star is not in the lineup.
--LHP Tom Glavine allowed one run and three hits over four frames in a rehabilitation start for Class A-Advanced Myrtle Beach on Monday. The 42-year-old left-hander, who has been sidelined since June 10 with a left elbow injury, felt no discomfort after throwing 53 pitches. He is scheduled to make another rehab start for Class AA Mississippi on Aug. 9, but is lobbying to rejoin the Atlanta rotation in Arizona this weekend instead.
--Atlanta lost for the eighth time in the last 10 games to fall a season-high 10 1/2 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East. The fourth-place Braves are closer to the cellar-dwelling Nationals than the Phillies in the standings.
BY THE NUMBERS: 3-0: RHP Jorge Campillo's record against the Milwaukee Brewers this season. Against all other teams, Campillo's record is 3-4.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "We decided (to become sellers) when our club just had too many players hurt right now to compete. We felt like it would be a time to rebuild the club... You can only battle injuries so far. We're a little short-handed right now." -- Braves GM Frank Wren, on why the club traded 1B Mark Teixeira at the trade deadline.
