Atlanta Braves Roster Report 2009-04-14
Everyone in the bullpen is supposedly healthy, but if that's true, the Braves are in trouble. The relievers had a collective 9.45 ERA in their first 13 1/3 innings, but the three main relievers performed as they were expected to perform on April 11 in a 5-3 win over the Nationals. RHP Peter Moylan struck out the side in the seventh inning. RHP Rafael Soriano labored but got through the eighth, and LHP Mike Gonzalez struck out two in the ninth to get the save.

PLAYER NEWS:

--3B Chipper Jones was in the starting lineup despite having aggravated the bone bruise on his left thumb in his final at-bat Sunday. Jones used Monday's off day to get treatment and take anti-inflammatories.

--LHP Tom Glavine was examined by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala. The results of an MRI showed inflammation of the rotator cuff, and Andrews is prescribing two weeks of rest, after which Glavine will be re-examined. Andrews repaired a torn left flexor tendon in Glavine's elbow Aug. 21 and also cleaned up the shoulder. Glavine, penciled in as the team's fifth starter, was scheduled to make his season debut Saturday at Pittsburgh. LHP Jo-Jo Reyes is expected to be recalled from Class AAA Gwinnett to make the start.

--LHP Jo-Jo Reyes will get the start Saturday at Pittsburgh in place of LHP Tom Glavine because he pitched well in spring training, because he is a left-hander, and because he is already on the 40-man roster.

MEDICAL WATCH:

LF Garret Anderson (strained right calf) didn't start April 8-12. He is day-to-day.

LHP Tom Glavine (shoulder and elbow surgeries) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 1. He had to cut short an April 12 rehab start with Class AA Mississippi, leaving his status in question.

C David Ross (strained right groin) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 2. He will start a two-day rehab assignment with Class A Rome (Georgia) on April 14.

RHP Tim Hudson (Tommy John surgery on right elbow in August 2008) went on the 60-day disabled list March 4. He is targeting an August return date, barring setbacks.
