Atlanta Braves Roster Report 2009-04-24
RHP Blaine Boyer was designated for assignment to make room for LHP Jo-Jo Reyes, who took the fifth starting spot and pitched April 18 in Pittsburgh. Boyer ultimately was dealt to St. Louis for minor league OF Brian Barden.

PLAYER NEWS:

--LHP Charlie Morton struggled in the third start of his rehab stint with Class AAA Gwinnett. Morton, who is on the disabled list with a left oblique strain, allowed six runs and eight hits over three innings Wednesday in Gwinnett's 6-2 loss to Durham. The southpaw is 1-1 with a 6.43 ERA in three starts thus far for Atlanta's top farm club.

--RHP Jair Jurrjens may have not gotten the win in Atlanta's 1-0 win over the Nationals on Wednesday, but he helped the bullpen by pitching deep into the contest. Jurrjens, who hurled 7 2/3 innings of shutout ball, became just the second Braves pitcher to last into the eighth inning this season.

--The beleaguered Braves relief corps showed some signs of life in the just-completed series against Washington, blanking the Nationals and allowing three hits while striking out 12 batters. Nevertheless, the 'pen still has some work to do. The unit's 6.28 ERA ranks 15th in the National League.

MEDICAL WATCH:

LF Garret Anderson (left quadriceps) came out of the April 19 game, and he didn't play April 20-22. He is day-to-day.

RHP Jorge Campillo (right shoulder tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list April 17. He said he was merely suffering from a dead arm.

LHP Tom Glavine (shoulder and elbow surgeries) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 1. He had to cut short an April 12 rehab start with Class AA Mississippi with shoulder discomfort, and he was shut down from throwing for two weeks.

RHP Charlie Morton (left oblique strain) went on the 15-day disabled list March 30. He began a rehab assignment with Class AAA Gwinnett on April 12.

RHP Tim Hudson (Tommy John surgery on right elbow in August 2008) went on the 60-day disabled list March 4. He is targeting an August return date, barring setbacks.
