--C Brian McCann appeared at the ballpark Friday wearing glasses, the first time he's ever had them, he said. That's going to be the solution to his changing vision for the rest of the season. He'll be getting some Oakleys to wear during games and will be wearing a hockey-style mask behind the plate to accommodate them.

--LF Garrett Anderson ran hard in the outfield before Friday's game against the Astros and gave manager Bobby Cox the thumbs up sign afterwards. Cox is somewhere between relieved and elated; he insists Anderson is going to be a big part of this team.

--C David Ross was not at the ballpark due to the early morning birth of his second child, a son, named Cole David Ross. Back-up C Clint Sammons got the start and LF Matt Diaz and INF/OF Greg Norton were the emergency catchers. And we do mean emergency.

--RF Jeff Francoeur batted clean-up for the first time this season and only the 10th time in his career. He rewarded manager Bobby Cox for the move by driving in two first-inning runs with his third homer of the season, then singling in another run with the bases loaded in the fifth.

MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Kenshin Kawakami (right shoulder fatigue) had his next start pushed back from May 2 to May 5.

C Brian McCann (blurriness in left eye) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 23. He began a rehab assignment with Class A Myrtle Beach on April 28.

LF Garret Anderson (left quadriceps strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 20.

RHP Jorge Campillo (right shoulder tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list April 17. He said he was merely suffering from a dead arm.

LHP Tom Glavine (shoulder and elbow surgeries) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 1. He had to cut short an April 12 rehab start with Class AA Mississippi with shoulder discomfort, and he was shut down from throwing for two weeks.

RHP Charlie Morton (left oblique strain) went on the 15-day disabled list March 30. He began a rehab assignment with Class AAA Gwinnett on April 12.

RHP Tim Hudson (Tommy John surgery on right elbow in August 2008) went on the 60-day disabled list March 4. He is targeting an August return date, barring setbacks.
