Atlanta Braves Roster Report 2009-05-08
--SS Yunel Escobar was leading the league with runners in scoring position heading into Thursday's games with a .480 average, despite swinging at the first pitch he sees virtually every time he's at the plate.

--RHP Jair Jurrjens has become more confident throwing his slider, which gives him another pitch against left-handed hitters. By limiting the Marlins to two runs in a seven-inning outing Thursday, leaving his ERA at 2.01.

--CF Jordan Schafer dunked one into left field in his fourth-inning at-bat, indicating that his swing-shortening sessions may have begun to pay off. He also beat out a bunt in the ninth, inducing an error that allowed him to get to second base.

--1B Casey Kotchman's home run was his first since Sept. 23 at Philadelphia. His multi-RBI game was his first since Sept. 26 vs. Houston. In 71 games since being acquired from the Angels last season in the Mark Teixeira trade, Kotchman is batting .266 with three homers and 26 RBIs.
