--RF Jeff Francoeur is batting .205 in his last 18 games, including his 0-for-2 performance Wednesday against the Mets. That was a game he was supposed to get off, which in conjunction with Thursday's scheduled off day would have given him two days to rest. But thanks to the way the 12-inning game against the Mets was going, manager Bobby Cox had to bring him in during the bottom of the seventh.
--LHP Jo-Jo Reyes appears to bear down if the game is close but seems to struggle with a lead. He has lost 10 consecutive games, dating back to last season. --LHP Mike Gonzalez appeared in six of the eight games on the just-ended trip and warmed up extensively in a seventh game. Despite the workload, he told manager Bobby Cox he wanted the ball in the final game, the 8-7, 12-inning win against the Mets. Gonzalez earned the save after blowing a save chance the night before.
MEDICAL WATCH:
RHP Jorge Campillo (right shoulder tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list April 17. He said he was merely suffering from a dead arm.
LHP Tom Glavine (shoulder and elbow surgeries) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 1. He had to cut short an April 12 rehab start with Class AA Mississippi with shoulder discomfort, and he was shut down from throwing for two weeks. He threw bullpen sessions May 4-13, and he hopes to be pitching for Atlanta before the end of May.
RHP Tim Hudson (Tommy John surgery on right elbow in August 2008) went on the 60-day disabled list March 4. He is targeting an August return date, barring setbacks.
