Braves' manager Cox serves 1-game suspension
MIAMI (AP) - Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox sat out Tuesday night against Florida to serve the one-game suspension he earned with a tirade on Sunday.

Cox was suspended for "inappropriate conduct and comments" during Sunday's 15-6 loss to the Washington Nationals, Major League Baseball disciplinarian Bob Watson said. Cox was ejected in the third inning, after Buddy Carlyle issued a bases-loaded walk to force in a run that put the Nationals ahead 6-1.

Plate umpire Chris Guccione turned to the Braves dugout and cautioned Cox not to come on the field. Cox bounded up the dugout steps anyway and was quickly ejected by Guccione. Cox followed Guccione during a long tirade before returning to the dugout.

Cox continued to yell from the dugout before the umpire again stepped away from home plate and pointed the way for Cox to leave.

The ejection was the 141st of Cox's career, extending his major league record, his sixth of the season. When asked the last time he was suspended, Cox said, "I don't remember. I think once in the '70s."

He said he would watch Tuesday's game on TV in the clubhouse. Chino Cadahia, the Braves' bench coach, was to take over as acting manager against the Marlins.
