Pitching matchup: Diamondbacks RH Jon Garland (3-2, 5.18 ERA) vs. Braves RH Derek Lowe (5-1, 3.80 ERA). Garland allowed 10 hits and seven runs in 3 2/3 innings of Monday's loss against Cincinnati, the second time this season he allowed seven runs in 3 2/3 innings. He was 2-0 with a 2.30 ERA in four starts between those outings. . . . Lowe has won four consecutive starts, posting a 4.26 ERA in that span while receiving more than 10 support runs per nine innings pitched.

What to watch for: Lowe is 4-1 with a 1.96 ERA in his past six starts against the Diamondbacks, and in the past two he allowed only six hits in 14 scoreless innings. . . . Garland, in his only start against the Braves , allowed 12 hits and five runs in 5 2/3 innings of a home loss June 13. Greg Norton is 4-for-12 with two homers against him, but Garret Anderson is 5-for-34 (.147).
